Students love working with Jake Leach for his fun, engaging lessons and his ability to make music feel approachable and exciting. A thoughtful and dedicated music educator, Jake teaches voice, guitar, piano, and songwriting, working with students of all ages and bringing a strong foundation in both instrumental and choral music to his teaching. Jake holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music with Honors from the University of Hull and brings a broad academic background in mathematics, science, and computer science, which supports a clear, organized, and intentional approach to learning. His lessons balance structure with creativity, helping students stay motivated while building real musical understanding.
He has been teaching music since 2018, working with children, teens, and adults at a wide range of experience levels. Jake is known for meeting students where they are — whether guiding beginners, supporting students transitioning from an ear-based approach, or helping developing musicians and songwriters refine their skills. He emphasizes confidence, curiosity, and long-term growth. With a strong background in choral singing and vocal study, Jake is also an experienced voice teacher, helping students develop healthy vocal technique, pitch accuracy, musicianship, and expressive communication. His ensemble experience informs his work with listening skills, blend, and musical awareness.
Songwriting is a core part of Jake’s teaching philosophy. He incorporates composition, lyric writing, improvisation, and musical structure into lessons, empowering students to understand how music works and to express themselves creatively — not just perform notes on a page.
Known for his patient, encouraging teaching style and positive energy, Jake creates a supportive environment where students feel comfortable taking creative risks and building lasting confidence. His values align closely with our school’s commitment to fostering creativity, confidence, and a lifelong love of music.
