Althea Kieffer

Piano and music exploratory instructor

Althea is a creative, patient, enthusiastic and energetic teacher who enjoys sharing her love of music with others. She has been teaching since she was in college and those first few piano lessons quickly became a favorite way to use her education in a rewarding way.  Althea graduated from Wilkes University, where she studied classical piano and earned a bachelor's degree in Music Education.

Althea has taught music in elementary schools, summer camps (including musical theater), and as a preschool teacher. The preschool experience included adding a brand new music program to the school’s curriculum.  She has taught students of many different ages and abilities, children through adults, including individuals with special needs. Performances include accompanying student and school performances, weddings, church events, and more.

Althea understands that we each have our own unique tastes and learning styles, so she uses a variety of music and teaching materials to best suit each student. She uses games to help make learning fun - even the harder stuff! Althea often says that helping students discover their own love of music - whether a child discovering something new or an adult giving themselves the gift of music - is her favorite thing!
